Sarah Lawrence Magazine was recently honored with its first Swarthmore Bulletin Bathroom Award, an entirely arbitrary and serendipitous selection from among the dozens of college and university magazines that cross the desk of Jeff Lott, the venerable editor of the Swarthmore Magazine. “The award consists of a temporary position atop the two-roll toilet paper dispenser, among about a half-dozen magazines held against the wall by the handicapped grab-bar,” says Jeff. “To achieve this honor, your publication must gain attention through engaging graphics, lively writing, and interesting choice of content. Bottom line: You’re doing great work and I wanted the rest of our staff—all of whom have to use the facility—to see it. view magazine

Taylor Design welcomes two staff members to our team. Laura Croft joins Taylor Design as an account executive. For the past eleven years she was the Project Manager and Accounts Director of Construction Consulting Group, Stamford. She also worked part time at the Stamford Public Library, co-directing a community outreach effort called the Visiting Books Program. Laura earned a BA from the University of Rhode Island and an MBA from the University of Connecticut. Mary Ellen Guarnieri joins Taylor Design after two years as a Bookkeeper at Brandman’s Decorating in Norwalk. Previously, she held Controller and Bookkeeper positions at Focus Vision and QTV-Autocue, both of Stamford. Mary Ellen was educated at Sacred Heart Academy, Stamford, and Norwalk Community College.

An identity program created for TowerGroup of Boston, MA, has been chosen for inclusion in the new book “Logo Lounge 5.” From the publisher: “Each judge reviewed thousands of logos from around the world. With a total of over 33,000 logos judged, the judges chose 2,000 and the final collection is not only an excellent point-in-time examination, it is full to the brim with inspiration, higher thinking, and craftsmanship.” The new book will be released by Rockport Publishers in March of 2009. Taylor Design is pleased to announce that it received two awards in the 2008 Creativity Awards Competition. The firm received a Silver Award for its design of the KABman website and a Silver Award for the Keep America Beautiful Annual Report. The projects will appear in Creativity 38, which will be on sale in January 2009.

The KAB Man website www.kabman.org, designed and programmed for Keep America Beautiful, was featured as an “editor’s pick” this week on YouTube. The recognition led 200 viewers to become new KAB subscribers.

The Keep America Beautiful “KAB Man” website was selected as the 2008 Progressive Source Awards Popular Choice for Best Microsite. The Awards were the first ever dedicated to recognizing effective Web advocacy practices among progressive organizations and non-profits.
