As part of Hartford Art School’s Professional Practices program, on February 6th Dan presented our company’s work to graduating seniors, including specific projects designed by recent UHart grads Cindy Lau and Iris Tao, and shared tips to succeeding as a designer in today’s marketplace. Graphic design professor Mike Scricco coordinated the event and served as the moderator.
Cindy served as a judge for the 2021 Connecticut Regional Scholastic Awards competition. This program recognizes the best student artists in the state. Student artwork was selected on merit for inclusion in a state-wide art exhibition to be held at the Hartford Art School.
Due to the current health crisis, the 2020 Stamford Boys & Girls Club 5K went virtual this year. Our team this year included Dan Taylor, Chris Taylor, Nora Vaivads, Steve Habersang, Kristine Habersang, and Cindy Lau. All proceeds raised will benefit the Stamford Boys & Girls Club.
Our 2020 Taylor Design Calendar entry has been selected to be published in Creative Quarterly 60, which will go live in November 2020. It was designed by Bria, written by Stacey, illustrated by Iris, printed by Printech, and conceived by the Taylor Design team.
With Dan serving as the moderator, Francesco Bertocci, the Customer Success Manager and Ambassador at Sketch, taught the wireframing, visual design, interaction design, and prototyping app to AIGA CT members and guests on Wednesday May 20th.
As the spread of COVID-19 continues, we are doing our best to navigate through this extremely unusual circumstance. Together, as a community, we are confident that we can find our way through this. We are fully open for business and we have moved all of our staff from our downtown Stamford studio to remote home work locations. We had already made the move of all project files to a secure Dropbox environment last year, so there will be no issues in terms of work productivity. We can conduct conference calls and screen share meetings as needed. All of our designers and programmers can be reached directly on their usual Taylor Design email addresses. Taylor Design is serving as a book drop-off location in advance of the Connecticut Art Director’s Club’s Ready, Set, Go Student Workshop. The collected design books will be distributed to graphic design students at the January 25th event.
As a board member of AIGA Connecticut, Dan coordinated the fall speaker showcase event at the University of Bridgeport’s Shintaro Akatsu School of Design. The graphic design legend Gail Anderson gave an inspirational speech. Hannah, Cindy, Nora, and Iris joined Dan for the talk.
