Marble Hill Chocolatier

When we created the identity program and packaging for Marble Hill Chocolatier in 2005, it was a fledgling company looking for a storefront and its first customer. A year later, the retailer was selected as the #1 “Favorite Thing” in 2006 in Cincinnati Magazine’s “Best of the City” issue. The same month, Marble Hill Chocolatier was featured on the cover of Cincinnati Weekly. It’s a sweet story of success.

CASE Awards Competition

We received notice from the CASE (the Council for Advancement and Support of Education) Accolades Awards program that the Holy Family University viewbook has been selected to receive the Silver Award in the category of “Student Recruitment Individual Publications.” The award will be presented at the Awards Gala on Monday, February 12 at the Rainbow Room in New York City. “The viewbook was a great collaborative effort (with Keating Associates), and all of you contributed your talents and many, many hours of hard work to ensure that it would be the best it could be. We all know it’s a great piece, and this third-party endorsement is very gratifying,” says Allen Arndt, Director of Communications.

Graphic Design USA Magazine Awards Competition

Taylor Design received three awards in the 2006 Graphic Design USA Awards Competition. The projects honored include a sales program for MasterCard, a branding program for Lease Valuation International, and an alumni publication for Sarah Lawrence College.

2006 Creativity Awards

Taylor Design is pleased to announce that it received four awards in the 2006 Creativity Awards Competition. The firm received a Gold Award for its design of the Sarah Lawrence College Magazine, a Silver Award for the Keep America Beautiful Annual Report, and Bronze Awards for the MasterCard Advisors Capabilities Brochure and the Taylor Design Summer Promotion. The projects will appear in Creativity 36, which will be on sale in January 2007.

New Designers Join the Studio

Taylor Design is pleased to announce the addition of two new staff members. Vaughn Fender joined Taylor Design as a print and interactive designer. Most recently, Fender was creating websites and marketing collateral at Fathom in Hartford. Fender received a Bachelor in Fine Arts in 2005 from the University of Hartford, where he also served as a teaching assistant. Erin Cummings also joined Taylor Design as a print and interactive designer. Cummings is a 2006 BFA graduate of the Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia, PA. Her work experience includes Student Ambassador at Temple University, Design Intern at Rodale Press, and Administrative Assistant at Greenberg & Lieberman Law Offices in Washington, DC.

Connecticut Art Director’s Club

Taylor Design is pleased to announce that it received seven awards at the 2006 Connecticut Art Director’s Club Awards show, including silver awards for the MasterCard International capabilities brochure, the Convent of the Sacred Heart School viewbook, and the Keep America Beautiful annual report. We also received awards of excellence for the Sarah Lawrence College Magazine, the Lease Valuation International website, the OpHedge Investment Services website, and the Taylor Design holiday card.

Happy Anniversaries

Michelle Dore, business manager, celebrated her tenth anniversary in April. Her leadership has contributed significantly to the growth and success of the studio. Michelle is a graduate of the University of Connecticut. Hannah Fichandler, senior art director, celebrated her seven year anniversary in March. She has been honored with many awards for communications she has created for FedEx, Insight Express, Sarah Lawrence College, St. Joseph’s College, and the University of New Haven. A communications design graduate from Syracuse University, Hannah joined Taylor Design in 1999 from Graphic Solutions in New York City.

American Corporate Identity Awards Competition

Taylor Design received an award in the 2006 American Corporate Identity Awards Competition. The firm won for its package design for Eden’s Honey Pecans, a product imported from Israel.

New Interactive Designer Joins the Team

We are pleased to announce that Michael Kranz has joined the firm as interactive designer, responsible for the development and programming of websites, e-mail campaigns, and e-magazines. Most recently, Mike overhauled New York’s Unitarian Universalist United Nations Office website. Mike also spent four years in San Francisco, where he got his start developing websites for non-profit organizations and musicians. A native New Yorker, Mike is a graduate of Oberlin College.
